On a glorious sunny day, with wildflowers of every description bursting from the bare limestone rock, Trek Ireland’s guided virtual tour follows a famine relief road, built in the 1840s by a government-led scheme to pay and feed the starving population, before turning sharply off-road to walk roughshod over the glints and grikes of this wonderful landscape.
Hike up past dry stone walls and open sheep pens to the top of a hillock where you'll cross the ridge of Sliabh Rua to reach the ancient prehistoric monument at the summit of Mullaghmore mountain with great views out over the countryside.
Join local walking guide Tony Kirby, 'Heart of Burren Walks', as he brings you across this rare and unique landscape in Ireland, striking out across the limestone pavement, with a wonderful view across the plateau, and wildflowers of every description flowering beneath your feet.
